KnifeFight events featured live performances best classified as punk rock at venues ranging from Brooklyn warehouses to SoHo storefronts. Prevalent attributes to KnifeFight parties included unconventional venues and transportation, free alcohol, limited edition artwork, and complimentary permanent tattoos.
From 2009 through 2011, I coordinated events with The Brooklyn Academy of Music, The Northside Festival, Heineken, Colt 45, The Busy Beaver Button Co., and Love Contemporary Magazine to name a few.
KnifeFight: No Rules is a short film about a crazy-ass show that went on in a Greenpoint warehouse this past February. Put on by the eponymous KnifeFight -- the party-throwing moniker of Andy P. Smith, ex-Chief Magazine engine who also ran the dearly departed, DIY space Bodega -- the two-night affair at 171 Lombardy starred the usual crust-crunk suspects: Japanther, The Death Set, Cerebral Ballsy, Boogie Boarder and Murdertronics. - The Village Voice
KnifeFIght Invading SoHo was an event on Mulberry Street, for which KnifeFight partnered with Busy Beaver Button Company to present a limited-edition collection of five buttons, designed by A.P. Smith, and printed on 24-Kr. gold-plated buttons (1″ diameter).
The event also included NYC artist Bad News Becca giving $20 tattoos all night. Tattoos that read "KnifeFight" were free. Four people accepted the offer.
In the summer of 2010 I made a trip out to visit the Bolgrums where I filmed and edited this video.
